Do you feel stuck, lacking motivation or unsure why your efforts to change don’t seem to have much impact?

Do you wonder why unhelpful, even unconscious, patterns or limiting beliefs keep showing up in your life, affecting your relationships, career, health, or creativity?

If so, Family Constellations can help!

What is Family Constellations?

Family or Systemic Constellations, is a transformative healing practice based on systemic thinking and ancestral healing developed by the German psychotherapist and philosopher Bert Hellinger. It helps us uncover new insights into our personal challenges and how they are connected to our wider family system as well as unresolved traumas inherited from previous generations.

Constellations are particularly powerful when used In a group setting where we can use people as ‘representatives’ to map out the ‘issue holder’ or ‘seekers’ family system to discover hidden loyalties and dynamics and start to restore clarity, balance and flow.

Unlike traditional talk-based approaches, Family Constellations is an embodied practice that focuses on somatic awareness and seeing relationships with a fresh gaze, rather than intellectual analysis.

Family Constellations can support us to make difficult decisions, resolve personal struggles or understand dynamics in our relationships. Just as in nature, balance and flow are essential; this work seeks to identify disruptions in the natural order and restore harmony. Changes made within the constellation impact the entire system, with effects that continue to unfold in the days and weeks following a session.

You are very welcome to join us, whether you are new to Constellations or not. The best way to understand this work is to experience it first hand.

In this workshop you may want to bring your own issue to explore, to take part as a representative or simply witness. Each role offers a powerful experience, often leading to profound insights and emotional shifts.

As Representative you may be asked to represent a person such as a family member of the ‘issue holder’ or an essence or archetype, such as Love, Nature or Money. You can make a choice about whether to take up this representation. Facilitated by Katie and Laura you will be supported to report back what you’re experiencing in your body, and how this might change as the Constellation progresses. Everyone will have a chance to experience this during the morning exercises.

Family Constellations can support you to:

  • Unravel family and relationship challenges

  • Identify repetitive patterns in your work

Your Facilitators:

Katie Despres is a Systemic Constellations Facilitator, Yoga Teacher and Transpersonal Coach, known for her down-to-earth, intuitive approach. She has been supporting individuals and groups through transformational work for over a decade.

After an early career in recruitment and entrepreneurship, Katie gradually moved into the world of wellbeing, inspired by her own journey through burnout, family complexity and a longing for deeper connection.

Her training spans yoga (1,500+ hours), embodiment and advanced study with the Centre for Systemic Constellations, including work with couples and intimate systems.

Katie’s work is shaped by a deep interest in human relationships - how we carry what is unresolved, and how we can gently return to what does not belong. She brings warmth, clarity and compassion to her facilitation, creating safe spaces to explore the hidden dynamics that shape our lives.

She offers workshops, courses and 1:1 sessions in Bristol and online, weaving together embodied practices, systemic thinking and grounded presence to support healing and reconnection.

"It's a fascinating process and Katie held the space with warmth, clarity, intuition and care. I found it intriguing how we can each open to an emotional intelligence that comes from somewhere beyond our own egos and learned ideas, and … be part of creating healing and change... Katie makes it feel simple and easeful, yet profound… The issue holders looked quite transformed - lighter, happier, ten years younger" Emma Burleigh

Laura Singer

After experiencing her first Family Constellation in 2015 when exploring stuckness in her life and ancestral trauma in her family system Laura was ‘hooked’ and went to to attend workshops with many different teachers in person and online.

She studied with Tanja Meyburgh from African Constellations in South Africa, graduating as a facilitator in 2023. As well as Family Constellations Laura is particularly interested in Nature and Land Constellations, working with unconventional organisations (co-operatives, land based projects, community groups) and including queerness.

Along with her Constellations experience Laura brings over three decades of work in community development, coaching, activism, conflict transformation, group facilitation, women’s circles, nature connection practices and a special interest in mental health and wellbeing, inclusion and accessibility.

As well as offering Constellations workshops in Bristol, South Wales and online Laura works in community-based theatre for change using theatre, clowning and play to help people discover new things about themselves and our society while in community with others.
