Yoga for Everyone – 6-Week Beginners Course

A warm, down-to-earth course for complete beginners and anyone wanting to revisit the foundations of yoga.
This is a rolling 6-week course, and you’re welcome to join at any point. Each course stands alone, but together they offer a well-rounded introduction to yoga. Most people choose to repeat the course more than once, as there’s so much to explore – and each round brings new insight and confidence.
We alternate between two key themes:
Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar): A flowing sequence that links breath with movement, building strength, flexibility and focus.
Standing Postures & Balances: Including Warrior I, II & III and other foundational poses to develop steadiness, alignment and body awareness.
What to Expect
Each class includes:
Gentle breathwork and guided meditation
Step-by-step teaching of key postures with clear alignment cues
Modifications and options for all bodies
A restful guided relaxation
Yoga philosophy woven through – offering supportive themes like grounding, presence, self-compassion and letting go, to bring your practice into daily life
Meet Your Teacher
I'm Katie Despres, a senior teacher at Yogasara with over 1,500 hours of training and 10+ years’ experience. I teach in a clear, down-to-earth way, with warmth, humour and a deep respect for each person's unique journey.
I came to yoga in my 40s while juggling motherhood and a busy life – and it changed everything. My approach blends classical Hatha Yoga with practical tools for body awareness, breath, and inner connection. I also work as a Systemic Constellations facilitator, helping people release limiting patterns and feel more rooted in themselves.

Did You Know?
